Acaba de aparecer al mercado el nuevo firmware iXtreme para flasheo de lectores Lite-On con firmware 83850c para que vuestra Xbox 360 cargue copias de seguridad. Se agrega este nuevo firmware a la lista que publiqué hace un tiempo.

Las instrucciones para la extracción de la key y el flasheo del lector las teneis aquí.

Es necesario JungleFlasher 1.65 para flashear ese lector.

Strict Wave 3 compliance means wave 3 games will only boot if they have correct PFI/DMI/SS and timestamp for wave 3

Strict drive speed compliance means games will only boot if drive is set for the initial speed of 12x, any modification of this make games fail to boot

SS v2 suports multiple timing samples for challenges type 5 and 7 , stroing them in the SS. This is a pre-requiste for SS v3 which has support for the so called AP2.5 check. Since this has never been used or may never be used by MS we will adopt a wait and see approach and continue to monitor for its usage.

With drive in Windows mode (Tray half open on powerup) 0800 mode is activated allowing easy dumping of game disc including SS v2. In this mode the drive is also able to output drive key, fw version and drive type by using a simple custom inquiry command.

Game exceptions are integrated in the fw for games that do not comply with the strict wave checks but are legitimate. These are Dance Dance Revolution Universe, Stoked, Ping 17 disk, afro samurai

One shot boot mode allows you to boot a Wave X or non stealth game by using the activate.iso disk as a flag. Just insert the activate disc and the next disc inserted will boot without any strict checks. This will still utilise full stealth if available. As soon as that disc is booted the flag is cleared, and you will have to re-insert the activate disk again to enable one shot boot. As always use with caution.

Tanto se ha hablado sobre esto en Internet que no me voy a molestar en entrar en mucho detalle. Únicamente decir que después de que apareciera en el mercado la tan esperada consola Nintendo DSi muchos usuarios presentaron su disconformidad al comprobar que no leía archivos MP3.

Un detalle, Nintendo DSi lo que acepta son archivos con formato AAC con extensión .M4A, .MP4 y .3GP. La extensión .AAC se la pasa por el forro.

Para contrarrestar los efectos del mal sabor de boca voy a colgaros por aquí un sencillo programa con el que podreis pasar todos vuestros MP3 a formato AAC (MPEG-4 AAC) con extensión .M4A. Ya podeis aprovecharlo porque parece mentira lo que me ha costao encontrar un programa de uso libre. Actualización: El programa dura 15 días o un mes, para seguir usando el conversor a .m4a debeis atrasar la fecha del ordenador.

El programa se llama Switch Sound File Converter y como os digo, su uso es gratuito pero existe una versión mejor, previo pago, con un mayor número de formatos aceptados. Acepta archivos wav, mp3, wma, mp2, m4a, ogg, avi, mid, flac, aac, mpga, dct, au, aiff, ogg, raw, msv, dvf, vox, cda, atrac, gsm, dss, sri, shn, dss, msv, wmv y alguno más. Ah! Switch Sound File Converter está disponible para Windows, Intel Mac y PPC Mac.

Descarga desde aquí la versión 2.02 EVALUACIÓN para Windows Actualización: El programa dura 15 días o un mes, para seguir usando el conversor a .m4a debeis atrasar la fecha del ordenador.

Aquí teneis algunos pantallazos del programa, el uso es sencillísimo.

Para convertir archivos MP3 a M4A y poder escucharlos en la Nintendo DSi debeis seguir los siguiente pasos:
1. Seleccionar Output Folder (Carpeta destino)
2. Seleccionar Output format M4A
3. Add File/Add Folder (Elegir archivos o carpetas)
4. Convert (y empiezará la conversión)
Listo!

Una vez los archivos convertidos a M4A, coges las carpetas y las copias a la tarjeta SD/SDHC que luego metes en la consola. Va de lujo.

En cualquier caso también he encontrado otro programa llamado Format Factory pero está patrocinado por eBay y se me ponen los pelos de punta cada vez que lo abro y veo el megabanner de publicidad.

No ha merecido la pena escribir nada últimamente porque seguimos en crisis (me refiero al país entero aunque Zapatero diga que no) pero vista la conferencia del E3 de Microsoft, quería comentar mi opinión y que veais el mejor video que he encontrado sobre el proyecto:

Creo que el sistema está basado en el típico enfoque de las cámaras digitales, eso de "dos cámaras 3D" es mero marketing. En fin, que con dos cámaras y el enfoque entre ellas hacen bastante fiable la captura de movimientos y profundidad, vamos, es lo que comúnmente denominamos DOS OJOS (probablemente servirá para videoconferencia en Xbox Live).

Con lo que sí estoy de acuerdo es con que el reconocimiento de voz y toda esa parafernalia es de muy "ensueño"... ya veremos como anda la cosa, sería un puntazo ver una aventura gráfica usando ese sistema. Pero en lo que se refiere a manejo de juegos usando Natal, apuesto mucho por ello.

Lo que sí he notado es cierta ralentización, puede que sea del proyector de demostración que tenían... porque en el video va bastante factible. Ah! Todavía no hay ni precio ni fecha de salida.

Pues eso, ya tenemos aquí el nuevo firmware para lectores de Xbox360, como siempre de la mano de C4ever.

Por ahora hay versiones para lectores Benq, Samsung y Lite-On. Falta el lanzamiento para los Hitachi.
